Ayr tartan army 3 v 5 dukla

It the first meeting between Ayr TA and Dukla Pumpherston, Dukla ran out 5 v 3 winners. It was a hard fought battle with Ayr holding their own for most of the game, but the skill of the ex pro's showed in the end.

Dukla captain Chick Young lifted the "Ally MacLeod Trophy" from Faye MacLeod, but plans are already in hand to snatch the prestigious trophy back next year.
Ayr manager Billy Thomson said " I'm gutted, I came here to win trophies, and I thought that we would easily take this one. Our boys were far superior for most of the game, but were just unlucky in front of goal. But all credit to the opposition, they came here and made it difficult for us. I thought the boy McLaughlan played well, and deserved his hat trick. I think the lad has a bright future in the game, and if he keeps his head down, he could have a good career ahead of him. There have been rumours about Everton wanting him, but I can state that their has been no approaches and he wont be teaming up with McFadden just yet !"
