In 1982, 13 boys and a clapped out double decker
bus, left the town of Maybole to follow the Scottish
national team to the World Cup finals in Spain. |
|
The bus "Auld Reekie" was bought by the lads and
kitted out to resemble a mobile home, with sleeping
and living areas. |
|
No one gave the bus much hope of getting over the
border, never mind all the way to Spain. STV put a
camera crew on board to follow the travels, and Auld
Reekie didn't let the people of Maybole down. |
|
"The Boys from Maybole" is a classic Tartan Army
documentry and is sought after and very rare. You
will soon be able to order your copy via this site. |
|
You never know, if we qualify for the finals in 2008
then hopefully, there will be a bus leaving from
Ayr, a clapped out double decker, painted blue with
"WE HAVE A DREAM" plastered on the side. |
|
All we need is to qualify, find a bus and couple of
drivers who want a free ride to Austria and back.
